Description

GB ENGLISH Morana Choir — KUPALA AND KOSTROMA. A dark Slavic folk song about the tragic destiny of a brother and sister bound by a cruel, blind fate. A dark Slavic lament based on the ancient myth of Kupala and Kostroma. In childhood, Kupala was stolen by the prophetic Sirin bird. Years later, Kostroma weaves a flower wreath and lets it float down the river, unaware that it will be found by her long-lost brother. Following pagan customs, they marry, only to discover the horrifying truth after the ritual. Unable to bear the weight of their unwitting sin, they choose death. Kupala (the element of Fire) steps into the flames, while Kostroma (the element of Water) drowns herself in a dark pond. The gods, taking pity, merge their souls into a single two-colored flower, Ivan-da-Marya, where th
