Watch the full movie "Racconti romani" (1955)—internationally known as Roman Tales—beautifully restored for the very first time in glorious, crystal-clear 4K Ultra HD (2160p) with English subtitles. Synopsis: Freshly released from prison, the overly confident Alvaro immediately takes leadership of his close-knit group of working-class friends: Mario, Otello, and Spartaco. Tired of scraping by on the fringes of post-war society and living day-by-day, these four young Romans decide it's time to give their lives a definitive turning point. Their dream is simple yet ambitious: to buy a small delivery truck and start their own independent transport business. However, they are missing the most crucial piece of the puzzle: the initial capital. To scrape together the necessary cash, the group dives headfirst into a whirlwind of desperate schemes, questionable deals, and petty scams. Unfortunately for them, their lack of criminal expertise turns every single attempt into a spectacular, tragicomic disaster. A Bitter-Sweet Masterpiece: Directed by the visionary Gianni Franciolini and based on the celebrated short stories by legendary author Alberto Moravia, Racconti romani is a vibrant, sharp, and nostalgic postcard of mid-century working-class Rome. Impreziosito by a brilliant screenplay from comedy maestros Age & Scarpelli, the film features an extraordinary guest appearance by the prince of Italian laughter, the immortal Totò.
