German Shepherd vs Belgian Malinois | Watch This Before Getting One

📘 My book — The German Shepherd Decoder: https://tailtell.store/decoder/ A lot of people believe the Belgian Malinois is a German Shepherd with a short coat, or a newer, upgraded version of the same dog. Part of that belief comes from the police. In two thousand eleven, the police in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia, in the country that created the German Shepherd, had two hundred eighty-one Malinois on duty and only twenty-six German Shepherds. Over roughly the same years, the American Belgian Malinois Rescue saw the number of dogs handed in each year climb from about one hundred to well over two hundred. Those two numbers have the same cause. The traits that made police units switch are the same traits that send Malinois back to rescues when they land in ordinary homes. So the useful question is not which breed is better. The useful question is what each one was selected to do, and what that selection looks like in your kitchen on a Tuesday evening.
