Description
In this video, I take you through some of the deadliest places in the universe — from Venus where the surface is hot enough to melt lead, to Jupiter’s radiation belts filled with high-energy particles, and Io where gravity constantly squeezes the moon and fuels hundreds of volcanoes.
We’ll visit planets where the surface is covered in molten rock, worlds where iron falls from the sky, and a giant planet being slowly torn apart and consumed by its own star. Then we move beyond planets entirely to explore white dwarfs with crushing gravity, red giants large enough to swallow entire planetary systems, and unstable stars like Eta Carinae that could eventually explode.
Finally, we scale up to some of the most violent environments in the universe — supernova remnants, starburst galaxies, colliding galaxy clusters and MACS J0717 where four enormous clusters are crashing together at once.
And the final place is terrifying for the opposite reason.
Intergalactic space.
Almost completely empty. Millions of light-years from the nearest galaxy. And with almost nothing around you to ever bring you back.

This video is made for entertainment and educational purposes. Some scientific details and extreme environments have been simplified to keep them easy to understand.
Certain descriptions of what would happen to a human or spacecraft are based on the known physical conditions of these environments rather than direct observation.
The goal is to spark your curiosity, not replace proper research.
Bluntly Explained explores the most extreme objects, events and mysteries in the universe — explained simply, visually and without the fluff.
