Description
How did Dubai build one of the world’s most incredible artificial islands in the middle of the Arabian Gulf — using millions of tons of sand?
Palm Jumeirah looks almost impossible from above: a gigantic palm-shaped island surrounded by the sea. But beneath its luxury villas and skyscrapers is an extraordinary feat of engineering. Engineers had to move enormous amounts of sand, fight powerful waves and currents, and develop massive rock barriers to keep the island from being washed away.
But the biggest question remains: why doesn’t Palm Jumeirah simply sink into the sea?
In this video, we’ll uncover how Dubai transformed loose desert sand into a stable artificial island, the technology behind its construction, and the engineering secrets that keep this enormous structure standing today.
Could you build something like Palm Jumeirah anywhere else in the world? 🌴🌊
