Why Did Guns N' Roses Release TWO Albums on the Same Day?

Why Guns N' Roses Released TWO Albums on the Same Day On September 17, 1991, Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II arrived in stores at the exact same time. Thirty songs. Two albums. One release date. But why two? Why separate? And why release both on the same day? This documentary goes behind one of the strangest decisions in Guns N' Roses history, from the enormous pressure of following Appetite for Destruction to the mountain of material recorded for Use Your Illusion, the problem of double-album pricing, Alan Niven's role in the decision, and the incredible commercial result that followed. But there was another story unfolding at the same time. While Guns N' Roses were reaching a massive commercial peak, the classic lineup was beginning to fall apart. If you had walked into a record store in 1991, would you have bought Use Your Illusion I, Use Your Illusion II, or both? Tell me in the comments.
