The murder of Brian Thompson, CEO of America’s largest private health insurance company, revealed the level of simmering anger at US Health Insurance companies. The suspected killer, 26-year-old Luigi Mangione – a recent graduate of one of the country’s most prestigious universities – soon became a hero in the eyes of many Americans. He has been held up as a symbol of the fight for a more equal health system. Since the assassination, regular protests have been held across the country denouncing a medical system that many consider to be “the most expensive and least equal in the world”.
