Why are human testicles outside the body when most vital organs are safely protected inside?
The answer takes us from the biology of sperm production all the way back through millions of years of mammalian evolution.
In this video, we follow an ancient man to explore one of the strangest features of male anatomy: why the testes are located outside the abdominal cavity, how the body keeps them at the right temperature, and why this matters for sperm production.
We’ll look at the role of the scrotum, the cremaster and dartos muscles, the pampiniform plexus, testicular descent, and the remarkable heat-exchange system working automatically inside the male body. We’ll also compare humans with elephants, whales, birds, and other animals that evolved very different solutions to the same biological challenge.
This video is presented strictly for educational and documentary purposes and explores human anatomy, physiology, evolution, and ancient human biology.
