Description

For seven generations, the Khatri family of Barmer, Rajasthan, has preserved the traditional art of Ajrakh block printing, using hand-carved wooden blocks and natural dyes like indigo and madder to create intricate geometric patterns. Rooted in the cultural histories of Sindh and Rajasthan, Ajrakh is more than a textile craft — it is a story of migration, identity, craftsmanship, and belonging. As traditional markets shrink and industrial production grows, this centuries-old art faces an uncertain future. Set against the vast landscapes of the Thar Desert, this film follows the Khatri family as they continue to preserve their ancestral knowledge and keep Rajasthan’s rich textile heritage alive.
