Description
On the afternoon of August 18, 1993, 12-year-old Sara Anne Wood finishes a day at a church camp near Litchfield, New York, and sets off on her bicycle for the four-mile ride home along Route 291 — a route she knew, in a rural upstate community where families like hers had lived for generations.
She is the youngest of four children, the daughter of a Baptist minister, a seventh-grader with a wide smile who collected stuffed animals and had never given her parents a reason to worry. She never arrives home.
