Description

Got Your Chainsaw STUCK? Here's The Quick Pro Fix There is a moment every man who's ever run a chainsaw knows. The chain slows, the wood closes down on the bar, and the saw is stuck. Right then, most folks grab the handle and pull, and that's how a good bar comes home bent. I'm Zeb Combs. I spent 40 years cutting timber and firewood on farms across southern Missouri, and I grew up the son of a logger in the Ozarks. I've had more bars pinched than I can count, and I've gotten every one of them back out. So this isn't something I watched somebody do. It's something I've done with my own two hands. In this one I give you the whole secret straight off. Then I walk you through the full ladder the old crews used, from the simplest fix to the last resort: — Why a saw gets pinched: the tension side, the compression side, and the few seconds of warning most people cut right through — My dad's rule: shut it off, set the chain brake, and never rev it or yank it — Why a stuck log is a loaded log, and how to keep it from bending your bar when it lets go — Rung 1: lift it with a peavey or cant hook, and add a fulcrum when you need more lift — Rung 2: wedge it, and what to do when the kerf's too tight to start a wedge — Rung 3: swap it. Pull the power head, put on a spare bar and chain, and cut yourself out — Rung 4: relieve it with a second parallel cut, just deep enough to take the tension off — The one that surprised me: the bore cut that frees a bar you can pull out with two fingers — No tools at all? The jack in your truck and how to use it — The axe method, and why it goes at the very top of the ladder — How to cut so you don't get stuck in the first place I'll be straight with you: the bore cut uses the nose of the bar, and that's where kickback lives. If you've never been shown how to do it, stay on the lower rungs. Always wear your safety gear, and never work on a stuck saw while it's running. A free saw is a habit, not a tool. Here's what I want you to do this week: look behind the seat of your truck. If there aren't two wedges, a spare bar, and a spare chain back there, fix that before you cut again. Tell me in the comments what your dad or your granddad did when he got his saw pinched. I read every one. #Chainsaw, #ChainsawTips, #StuckChainsaw, #Firewood, #Logging, #OldWays, #Homesteading, #ChainsawSafety, #WoodCutting, #FarmLife
