Description

Your home is not hard to clean because you are lazy. It is hard to clean because of what you brought inside. My name is Setsuko. I am seventy-eight years old, and I have emptied three houses in my life. In this video I share eleven things that make a home harder to clean: white furniture, wall-to-wall carpet, open shelves, glass tables, marble counters and more. For each one, I explain what a Japanese household chooses instead and why. You will learn about wabi-sabi, the genkan entrance, shibui, kanso, mottainai, and the small gaps the Japanese call sukima. At the end, I share two daily habits my mother practiced until she was ninety: tsuide sōji and teiichi kanri. They cost nothing and make every room easier to care for. Which of these eleven things is in your home right now? Tell me in the comments. #JapaneseHome #CleaningTips #Minimalism #JapaneseWisdom #LowMaintenanceHome
