The journey includes Saumyapura, Sauripura, Nagendra Bhavana, Gandharvapura, Shailagamapura, Kraunchapura, Krurapura, Chitrabhavana, Vaitarani river, Bahvapadapura, Duhkhadapura, Nanakrandapura, Sutaptabhavana, Raudrapura, Payovarshanam, Sheetadhyapura, and Bahubheetipura. Vaitarani river is one of the most mysterious stages in the journey. Those who performed punya karmas such as godanam and dharmic actions receive help, while others experience difficulty according to the Puranic description. After nearly one year, the soul reaches the city of Yamadharma Raju. There, Chitragupta examines the good and bad karmas performed during life, and Yamadharma Raju decides the result according to karma.
