Description
In this video, I take you on a journey through every type of moon in the universe — starting with the familiar, and ending with worlds that shouldn't be possible. We begin with regular moons like our own, born alongside their planet and locked forever facing it. Then the irregular moons — captured drifters on tilted, backward orbits. From there the worlds get stranger: ice moons with cracked shells hiding oceans, volcanic moons like Io erupting harder than anywhere else in the solar system, and giant moons like Ganymede and Titan that are larger than the planet Mercury. We go deeper — ocean moons that may be the best place to find alien life, atmospheric moons wrapped in thick air with lakes of liquid methane, shepherd moons that sculpt entire planetary rings, and trojan moons that share a single orbit and trade places. Then it gets truly strange: captured moons orbiting their planet backward, rogue moons flung out to wander the galaxy completely alone, submoons — moons that orbit other moons — and exomoons circling alien worlds light-years away. And by the end, you'll understand the unsettling truth about our own Moon: it's slowly drifting away from us, and one day Earth will have no moon at all.
