Description
How do we afford our farm / homestead in Northern Germany without being rich?
In this video, I’m sharing the real, honest numbers and the simple long-term strategy, rooted in minimalism, frugality and hard work, that helped us afford our Northern German farm. No overnight success but consistency, intentional money and lifestyle choices and frugal habits made it possible for us.
Our plan was never about becoming rich quickly. It was about building more freedom, one boring and intentional decision at a time.
These are the four strategies that made the biggest difference for us:
— Earn more and treat opportunities seriously
— Keep our living costs low without living a miserable life
— Work hard and accept some inconveniences along the way
— Invest the surplus consistently over many years
I’ll show you why there is a limit to how much you can cut your expenses through frugalism and minimalism — but no fixed ceiling on what you can earn. We also talk about our 40/60 rule, using additional income intentionally, and why regular ETF savings plans helped us keep investing through market highs and lows.
This is not a “get rich quick” video. It’s a realistic look at how a normal family can slowly build a homestead and financial freedom on an average income by using minimalistic and frugal techniques - paired with consistency.
We are so happy that we achieved this goal to have our farm in Northern Germany: fruit trees, a barn, a vegetable garden, a slower rhythm.
If you want a quieter, simpler life with less consumption, more financial security, and more room for what truly matters, you’re in the right place.

Let me know in the comments: Which part feels hardest to you right now—earning more, lowering expenses, accepting inconveniences, or leaving your investments alone?
