The Dark Truth About Abraham Lincoln

Abraham Lincoln is remembered as the president who preserved the Union and helped bring slavery in the United States toward its constitutional end. But his real story is far more complicated. Born in a log cabin with little formal education, Lincoln endured devastating personal losses, struggled with periods of profound depression, became a successful self-taught lawyer, and eventually rose to the presidency during the greatest crisis in American history. In this video, we explore Lincoln’s extraordinary journey — from his childhood on the American frontier and the famous Lincoln-Douglas debates to the Civil War, the Emancipation Proclamation, the 13th Amendment, his controversial use of wartime presidential powers, and his assassination by John Wilkes Booth. Was “Honest Abe” really the man most people remember today? Watch until the end and decide for yourself.
