Archeologists Investigate The Secret Fortress Built To Protect London From Hitler

In 1940, as Nazi Blitzkrieg swept across Western Europe, Adolf Hitler turned his sights toward Britain. Facing imminent invasion under Operation Sealion, British soldiers, Home Guard volunteers, and civilians scrambled to transform London into an impenetrable fortress. In this episode, archaeologists excavate Shooters Hill, uncovering forgotten pillboxes, explosive flame traps, spigot mortar pits, and secret resistance bunkers hidden in suburban backyards. Discover the harrowing, unwritten history of how ordinary people prepared to fight to the absolute last bullet to defend the capital. You can now become a History Hit member right here on YouTube!
