Marine Le Pen says she will run for French presidency

Far-right leader Marine Le Pen will run in the 2027 French presidential election, she said in an interview with broadcaster TF1. "Since I have the option of filing an appeal with the Cour de Cassation (...) and since this appeal suspends the effects of the ruling, I will therefore campaign without an electronic bracelet," said Le Pen. Earlier on Tuesday, Le Pen's conviction of embezzlement was upheld by an appeals court and she was sentenced to one year of at-home detention under electronic monitoring, though this term could be reduced. - #frenchpolitics #marinelepen #lepen #france #news #farright #rassemblementnational
