Description

In 1915, America's biggest movie showed Black lawmakers with their bare feet on their desks, eating fried chicken while they passed laws. The Birth of a Nation called it a "historical facsimile." Those were real seats: after the Civil War, Black men really were elected in South Carolina. On February 18, 1915, it became the first film ever shown inside the White House. That's not even half of it. The full documentary is on the channel: the 1705 law, the town that became the Fried Chicken Capital of the World, and the house that was paid for with chicken legs. #blackhistory #history #friedchicken #birthofanation #shorts
