Why haven’t aliens invaded Earth yet?
Science fiction has given us plenty of explanations: they want our resources, they need a new planet, they want human slaves, their religion demands it, they're naturally aggressive, or they see humanity as a future threat.
But what happens when you actually apply scientific and economic logic to these ideas?
In this video, we examine the most common reasons aliens might invade Earth and ask whether they really make sense for a civilization advanced enough to cross interstellar distances.
Could aliens really need Earth's resources?
Would invading Earth make sense if their planet was dying?
Would humans actually be useful as a workforce?
Could an alien civilization still be driven by religion?
Does intelligence necessarily come with aggression?
And could humanity eventually become a threat worth eliminating?
The deeper we go, the stranger the question becomes.
Maybe the biggest mistake we make when imagining alien invasions is assuming that aliens would think like humans—just with much better technology.
And if extraterrestrial intelligence exists, their motivations might be something we haven't even imagined.
