Description

Your dog doesn't see you as human — and he knows you're not a dog either. So what are you to him? In this video I test the two guesses almost every owner makes, the "he thinks I'm his mom" and the "I'm the pack leader" theories, and then I look at what the research on dog-human bonding actually found. The answer is better than either myth. I walk through how dogs play differently with people than with other dogs, why you become their secure base, and what happens in the brain and body when you and your dog hold eye contact. I also look at how rescue dogs build attachment from scratch, why "safe base" fits the science better than "pack mate," and how clinginess is usually rooted in fear rather than dominance. And near the end, I show you the small thing your dog does when you walk back through the door — the greeting that gives the whole answer away. Once you see it, you can't unsee it. 0:00 What your dog sees in you 0:40 Why familiar theories fail 1:42 Dogs play differently with people 2:53 You are their secure base 4:06 Bonding through eye contact 5:28 Science confirms what owners know 5:50 How rescue dogs build attachment 6:45 Safe base versus pack mate 7:11 The greeting that reveals relief 7:44 Clinginess comes from fear #dogs #dogbehavior #dogtraining #dogbond #dogsofYouTube #rescuedogs #petparents
