Description
Apollo missions reached the moon in as little as 3 days, but normally it take about 5 days.
It the space craft was to continue at the same speed as it leaves the earth π at itβs trans lunar injection it would arrive in 10 hours, yet we need to understand that speed is converted to gravitational potential energy like throwing a stone upwards, it slows down.
A space craft does this all the way to the moon, meaning that the average speed is much lower than the departure speed.
Finally the is an ideal low energy trajectory that means it just gets to the orbiting the moon, faster needs more energy, which means more fuel : less payload
