#KingAhaziah #Athaliah #Jehu The King Who Walked Into a Deadly Trap While Visiting His Uncle | The Story of King Ahaziah King Ahaziah of Judah thought he was simply visiting his uncle, King Joram of Israel, after Joram had been wounded in battle. But Ahaziah had no idea that his visit would place him directly in the path of one of the most violent moments in Israel’s history. Ahaziah was the son of Jehoram and the wicked Queen Athaliah, the daughter of Ahab and Jezebel. From childhood, he was surrounded by the influence of the house of Ahab. When he became king of Judah, he followed their counsel and joined Joram in military conflict against Syria. But everything changed when Jehu was anointed king. Jehu marched toward Jezreel with a furious army, determined to destroy the house of Ahab. When King Joram went out to meet him, Ahaziah was riding alongside his uncle. They soon discovered that Jehu was not coming in peace. Joram was struck down, and Ahaziah fled for his life. But his escape would not last. Wounded and pursued, the king of Judah eventually reached Megiddo, where he died. The death of Ahaziah was only the beginning. His mother, Athaliah, would soon hear that her son was dead—and respond with an even more shocking act. She attempted to destroy the entire royal family and seize the throne of Judah for herself. Yet one royal child survived in secret: Joash, who was hidden in the Temple for six years.
