Description

1.5 Million Balloons… Then Chaos Began 😱 - - - - - - In 1986, Cleveland attempted something that looked spectacular — releasing nearly 1.5 million helium balloons into the sky at once. 🎈 The event, called Balloonfest ’86, was organized as a United Way fundraiser and was intended to set a world record. More than 100,000 people gathered in Cleveland to watch the massive release. But then the weather changed. Strong winds and rain caused thousands of balloons to descend back toward the city and Lake Erie instead of simply floating away. The balloons created problems for traffic, forced a runway at Burke Lakefront Airport to close, and even complicated a Coast Guard search for two missing fishermen. Balloons were also reported across surrounding areas in the days afterward. What was supposed to be an incredible publicity stunt became one of the strangest events in Cleveland's history. 🎈 This is the story of Cleveland's Balloonfest ’86. - - - - - - #interestingfacts #shorts #cleveland #guinnessworldrecords #didyouknow #curiousfacts #telugu #unknownfacts #mindblowingfacts
