I explain the four jobs a bore cleaner needs to do, what automatic transmission fluid, kerosene, mineral spirits, and acetone each contribute, and how I use the mix with a patch and brass brush. I also cover why it held up on the Gulf Coast and what it will not remove. I go over the serious safety details, including acetone damage to wood stocks, plastic, and scope coatings, flammable vapors, proper storage, gloves, and checking that the gun is unloaded. I share the old lesson from my granddaddy's shop and the result when the young man's rifle finally came clean.
