Description

Sally Field at Howard Stern's microphone in 2016, telling the story of taking Smokey and the Bandit (1977) with Burt Reynolds — the role Hollywood said ended her serious career — then chasing Norma Rae two years later, the one script every bankable actress in town had turned down. Her director fought the studio to give it to her. She won the Oscar in April 1980. Reynolds, her co-star and partner of five years, refused to come to the ceremony. Whose Smokey and the Bandit scene do you remember more — Carrie in the wedding veil, or Carrie and the Bandit on the hood of the Trans Am? Tell us in the comments. #shorts #sallyfield #burtreynolds #smokeyandthebandit #normarae #70smovies #oscars
