Description
80 Years Since The Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima & Nagasaki is a powerful historical documentary that examines the missions that introduced the world to the nuclear weapon. On August 6, 1945, the Enola Gay dropped the uranium-based Little Boy on Hiroshima. Three days later, on August 9, 1945, Bockscar delivered the plutonium-based Fat Man to Nagasaki. The atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki changed the course of World War II and marked the first, and only use of a nuclear weapon in war.
This film uses a combination of authentic archival footage and stunning 3D animations created in Unreal Engine to recreate the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki with historical accuracy and cinematic impact. Viewers will see the missions unfold from takeoff to detonation, experiencing the unprecedented destructive power of the nuclear weapon.
The atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki revealed the devastating effects of a nuclear weapon, from the fireball and blast wave to the radiation that followed. These events reshaped global politics, ignited the nuclear arms race, and forever altered the debate on the role of the nuclear weapon in warfare and deterrence.
Eighty years later, the legacy of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki continues to influence nuclear weapon policy and disarmament efforts. This documentary blends history, technology and science to tell the story of the nuclear weapon’s first combat use and reflects on the lessons of the nuclear age.
Experience history, technology, and the reality of the nuclear weapon in this unforgettable film.
