🔥 Ramses could not charge through his own retreating men. ⚔️ So his archers bought them time. The Egyptian infantry fell back from the camp's shield barrier. Archers shot through gaps between the spearmen. They covered the withdrawal until the line could close ranks again. Then the Nearin reached the western side of the camp. Organized infantry and chariots. They advanced against the rear of the Hittite attack. Inside the camp, Hittite crews had kept pushing forward. More chariots followed them through the breach. Now that support turned west to meet the Egyptian reinforcements. It left the crews inside the camp alone. Ramses attacked them before another wave could join.
