Description

Beneath the surface of South America’s rivers lives a remarkable creature that can look almost too enormous to be real: the giant freshwater stingray. Some species grow to extraordinary sizes, gliding silently along riverbeds while searching for food. Their flattened bodies help them move across the bottom, making these aquatic giants difficult to spot in murky water. Freshwater stingrays use their flexible, whip-like tails for defense. A sharp, venomous spine can inflict a serious injury if a ray is threatened or accidentally disturbed. Despite their intimidating appearance, these animals generally prefer to avoid confrontation and spend much of their time resting or searching for prey along the riverbed. Their true size varies by species, and claims about a 13-foot length or a weight of nearly 700 pounds should be treated cautiously without a verified identification. Disclaimer: This video is shared for educational purposes. The exact species and reported measurements cannot be confirmed from the description alone. Never approach or handle wild stingrays. #Stingray #RiverGiants
