Description

This afternoon, a Kenya Airways B737 (5Y-KYC) was expected to arrive into Cape Town without any problems. However, on landing, something on the runway caused two wheels to break. As a result, Runway 19, the main runway was closed, as vehicles attended to the aircraft. This led to all incoming traffic diverting, whilst a few narrowbodies departed off Runway 16. Because of the poor visibility conditions, no aircraft were allowed to land on 16. Today was indeed a very hectic day for this aircraft. In the morning, due to the weather in the Mother City, the decision was made to divert to Port Elizabeth. After being in PE for just under two hours, they departed for CPT, which is when this incident happened.
