Description

16 “ILLEGAL” Off Grid Gardening Tricks Our Grandparents Never Wrote Down A salvaged window and four bricks kept a widow in fresh greens through an Ohio January for nothing. Today you pay $300 for a plastic cold frame that cracks in two winters. My grandfather Eli filled fifty-two pages of a leather journal with the old ways. But these sixteen, he never wrote down. Not one line. "Some things you don't put on paper, boy, because paper is what they come looking for." Before he passed at 94, he made me swear I would say them out loud to somebody. This is me keeping my word. Some of these they made unfashionable. Some they made complicated. And a few, like catching rain off your own roof, were flat against the law in parts of this country. From salvaged cold frames and buried clay pots to grafting at the kitchen table and the root cellar, this is the knowledge that lived in hands, not on paper. Pick one. Just one. Do it this week. Tell me in the comments: did your grandparents do any of these? Which one? The one with the most comments gets a whole video next. If you haven't yet, subscribe. Not for me. Because this record is coming back one week at a time. I am not your lawyer or your county extension agent. Rules on rain catchment, graywater, backyard hens and seed sharing vary by state and county, so check your local laws before you scale any of it. Keep the old ways. They kept us. — Zeb Combs #OffGrid #Homesteading #OldWays #Gardening #VictoryGarden #SelfReliance #Grandparents
