Description

🌊 Post-tropical storm Rachel, unusually high tides, and heavy rainfall are creating a dangerous combination of coastal flooding and inland flash-flood threats across Southern California. Communities from Newport Beach and Long Beach to San Diego and the inland counties are facing changing conditions. In this video, I break down the local emergency in Newport Beach, where seawater has flooded parts of the Balboa Peninsula and crews are using sand berms, pumps, and other emergency measures to protect vulnerable neighborhoods. 🚨 I also cover the situation in Long Beach, including the evacuation order and ongoing coastal flooding concerns as large waves and elevated tides continue affecting the shoreline. Farther south and inland, I examine the threats facing San Diego, Riverside, and Imperial Counties, where heavy rainfall could produce flash flooding even away from the immediate coastline. I also review conditions around Laguna Beach and Huntington Beach, along with the forecast for high tides, large surf, dangerous rip currents, strong winds, and additional flooding. Finally, I go through the latest safety guidance and emergency measures officials are urging residents and visitors to follow as Southern California continues dealing with Rachel’s impacts.
