Description

Watching an Islamic movie to learn your history sounds perfect, but when actors portray the Prophets of Allah, a major boundary is crossed. Here is why the scholars say it is strictly forbidden: Official Fatwas & Consensus: The International Islamic Fiqh Assembly (Resolution No. 202): Unanimously ruled that depicting the Prophets, the Mothers of the Believers, and the close Companions (Sahabah) in visual arts or dramas is strictly prohibited to protect their sacred status from being degraded. Al-Azhar Islamic Research Academy (Cairo): Issued a permanent fatwa banning any visual portrayal of the Prophets, stating that an ordinary human actor cannot embody the infallible character of a Messenger of Allah. The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta (Saudi Arabia): Stated that minimizing the grand status of a Prophet by linking their identity to a worldly actor opens the door to mockery and corrupts the spiritual imagination of Muslims when they read the Qur'an.
