Description

https://vernadiscovery.com 🦫 The Comeback Files: my guide to twelve American animals that came back from almost nothing, with the real counts and the sources. Bald eagles, elk, condors, wolves, and more. Eleven beavers were trapped on farmland in Tayside and released in Glen Affric, in the Scottish Highlands: a family of five and a pair in October 2025, and a family of four in February 2026. This summer, wildlife cameras caught something no one has seen in the glen for 400 years: baby beaver kits, playing beside their mother. This video explains what happened next, and what the headlines got wrong. You will see where the beavers came from and why they were moved, what the first Scottish beaver trial at Knapdale found, what the evidence says about flooding and fish, and what could still go wrong. The project is led by Trees for Life and Forestry and Land Scotland, supported by Beaver Trust. In this video you'll learn: - What the cameras captured in Glen Affric, and who filmed it - Why "first beaver kits in Scotland in 400 years" is not quite right - Why these 11 beavers were moved from Tayside farmland - What the Knapdale trial found about fish - What the evidence says about beavers and flooding - How translocation compares with licensed killing - What could still go wrong Sources: - STV News: https://news.stv.tv/highlands-islands/baby-beavers-born-in-scotland-for-the-first-time-in-400-years - Inside Ecology: https://insideecology.com/2026/07/29/first-baby-beavers-in-400-years-born-in-scotlands-most-beautiful-glen/ - NatureScot Beaver Management Report 2025/26: https://www.nature.scot/doc/beaver-management-report-202526 Topics: Glen Affric, Scottish beavers, beaver reintroduction, Trees for Life, Forestry and Land Scotland, Beaver Trust, Knapdale, rewilding, Scotland wildlife. It would mean the world to me. 😊 Verna Discovery looks at what happened after the headline. -Verna Chapters: 0:00 Eleven beavers and a camera 1:01 Glen Affric, the glen beavers left 2:12 How the project began 3:11 The kits on camera 4:41 The headline that got it wrong 5:24 The Knapdale trial and the fish surprise 6:31 Where the eleven beavers came from 8:25 Why bring beavers to a glen 9:59 What could still go wrong 10:27 Where this leaves us 10:52 Your turn #Beavers #Rewilding #Scotland #Wildlife
