Description

Long before Hogwarts, the Ministry of Magic, or even the invention of modern wands, witches and wizards were already practicing extraordinary magic. Ancient Egyptian sorcerers placed curses on tombs that still work thousands of years later, Greek dark wizards created the first Basilisk and Horcrux, and powerful magical communities developed across China, Africa, and the Americas. But where did magic actually come from, who was the first wizard, and why did the magical world eventually separate itself from ordinary humans? In this video, we explore the origins of the Harry Potter wizarding world, from the earliest recorded magic in Ancient Egypt around 3000 BC to the legendary witches and wizards of Ancient Greece, including Mopsus, Circe, Herpo the Foul, and Andros the Invincible. We'll uncover the history of wandless magic, the founding of Ollivanders in 382 BC, ancient Chinese alchemy, the rise of magical communities, and the growing divide between wizards and Muggles. From the first Wizards' Council and Merlin to the Peverell brothers and the creation of the Deathly Hallows, these are the ancient events, powerful figures, and forgotten traditions that shaped the Wizarding World thousands of years before Harry Potter was born.
