Description

Your dog gives you nothing back — no food, no labor, no defense — and you feed her anyway. That should make zero evolutionary sense. So when scientists found wild animals doing the exact same thing, it became one of the strangest mysteries in animal behavior. In this video, we look at real documented cases: a wild capuchin monkey troop in Brazil that adopted and raised a baby marmoset (a species they normally eat) for over a year, a wild dolphin that nursed an orphaned whale calf for three years, and a group of chimpanzees whose attempts at the same instinct ended in tragedy. What connects all of them reveals something unsettling about where "love" actually comes from in the animal brain — and how thin the line is between nurturing and killing. 📚 Sources referenced: Hirata et al.
