Description
In South Ruislip in 1954, 21-year-old Jean Mary Townsend was murdered after an evening in London. This British true crime documentary follows the questions surrounding her last journey home.
Her last reported sighting placed her leaving the Underground station late at night. Afterwards, local residents organised patrols to accompany women walking home from trains. Their response showed how far concern had spread beyond the crime scene.
Years later, police publicly reassessed an early line of enquiry. Follow the witness accounts, the original investigation and the later effort to examine the case files, while separating documented facts from unproven claims.
