The Healthy Masculinity of Gears of War

The Healthy Masculinity of Gears of War can be seen when in comparison to all the other games of the 2000s. Most of the time masculinity would be used as a crutch in storytelling to have someone act like the lone wolf, silent type, and this worked specifically for gaming due to it being able to make players feel more like the character. Gears of War came out and surprised everyone when it fulfilled all the surface level traits of deep voices, big bodies, aggressive men, but they all had a sweet and sensitive side to them. This video expresses that view... The view of Masculinity being terrible when it pushes away your emotions, your humanity, and how Gears of War never does that with its characters.
