What if Germany United in 1850?

Germany almost united in the year of 1850 with the Erfurt Union, however the larger German states opposed it, and so did Austria and Russia. The Union collapsed because Prussia backed down due to having to fight a war in these circumstances. However, what if we managed to unite most of Germany in 1850? This will change Europe substantially because the entire foreign policy changes.
