Description
Fifteen different vehicles sell for under $2,000 on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, and impound auctions right now, and all of them are legal to own. Ford Econoline cargo vans run $800 to $1,500.
📖 The book I mention in the video — The Street Survival Manual: danny.myreads.store
Retired box trucks go for $1,200 to $1,800 at commercial auctions. Honda Odyssey minivans with high miles cost $900 to $1,400. Short buses under 25 feet sell for $1,400 to $2,000 at district auctions, and small travel trailers run $1,200 to $2,000 if you shop hard.
Fourteen of these will work until a cop decides they won't. One category has legal protection the others don't. The difference is the title. A passenger vehicle puts you under 72-hour sweeps and commercial parking restrictions. An RV title, in 42 states, lets you park on private property where the owner allows it and exempts you from some overnight enforcement. A short bus starts as a passenger vehicle, but if you frame in a bed platform and a camp stove and document it with photos, most states will re-title it as a recreational vehicle. That re-title changes every legal conversation you're going to have.
Cargo vans and minivans keep you invisible by blending in. Box trucks and step vans park in commercial zones without questions. SUVs and hatchbacks look like every other car on a residential street. Class B RVs from the 90s already have the recreational vehicle title. Travel trailers skip the vehicle part entirely. Every machine on this list costs $2,000 or less. The barrier is not finding the money or picking the right rig. The barrier is that we have made it illegal to park any of them anywhere long enough to close your eyes.
