Description

California High-Speed Rail California promised America’s first true bullet train—a high-speed rail line connecting San Francisco and Los Angeles in under three hours. Approved by voters in 2008, the project was originally expected to cost around $33–45 billion and open by 2020. But nearly two decades later, no passengers have boarded, construction remains concentrated in California’s Central Valley, and some estimates now reach as high as $231 billion. Federal funding has disappeared, deadlines have been missed, and full San Francisco-to-Los Angeles service may not arrive until around 2040. In this video, we examine what went wrong with California High-Speed Rail, including land-acquisition delays, legal disputes, management failures, funding problems, design compromises, shared commuter tracks, rising construction costs, and the uncertain future of the Merced-to-Bakersfield segment. Could this still become America’s first real high-speed railway—or will it become the country’s most expensive infrastructure warning? #californiahighspeedrail #bullettrain #highspeedrail
