Description
At dawn on August 17th, 1945, Indonesia stood on the edge of history. After 350 years of Dutch colonial rule and 3.5 years of Japanese occupation, a small group of young activists and founding fathers made a decision that changed the fate of a nation.
This is the complete, chronological story of how Indonesia proclaimed its independence — from the final days of World War II, the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the Rengasdengklok incident where Sukarno and Hatta were kidnapped by the youth, the secret meeting at Admiral Maeda's house, to the raising of the Merah Putih and the 4-year revolution until sovereignty was recognized on December 27, 1949.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN:
✓ Why Japan's surrender created a power vacuum
✓ The generational clash: pemuda vs golongan tua
✓ What really happened in Rengasdengklok
✓ How Ahmad Soebardjo brokered the compromise
✓ The full text drafting process
