Get Linda’s Complete Cleaning Guide, all written down: https://lindacleaing.gumroad.com/l/Lindascleaning 🏡✨ Open your microwave and look at the ceiling inside, mija. That little splash of tomato sauce did not stay little forever. Every reheated supper gave it another chance to dry and harden. Before you attack it with a rough sponge, let a little steam soften the mess. You don’t pour vinegar straight into the microwave—you use a small amount in a bowl of water. THE METHOD: 1. Check your microwave’s manual first. Remove loose crumbs and make sure the interior has no damaged coating, exposed metal or sparking. 2. Put one cup of water and one tablespoon of ordinary white vinegar into a large, open microwave-safe bowl. Do not use a sealed container. 3. Heat in short intervals until the liquid is steaming. Stay nearby and stop before it boils vigorously or runs low. The time will depend on your microwave’s power. 4. Leave the door closed for a few minutes with the microwave off. Let the steam soften the dried food while the bowl begins to cool. 5. Open the door carefully, keeping your face away from escaping steam. Let the liquid cool before moving it, and use oven mitts to handle the bowl. Do not add anything to the hot liquid. 6. Wipe the ceiling, walls and floor with a soft, damp cloth. Hold the cloth against stubborn spots to soften them further instead of scraping. 7. Let the glass turntable cool before washing it in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry it, then wipe the interior again with a clean, damp cloth and replace the turntable. THE WHITE CLOTH CHECK: once the interior is cool, wipe a clean, damp white cloth across the ceiling and beneath the turntable. Visible food residue means that spot needs another wipe. A clean cloth does not prove the microwave is sanitized. THE RULES: never mix vinegar with bleach or other cleaning products. Avoid metal bowls, abrasive pads and sharp scrapers. Never heat the liquid until it evaporates. Microwave-heated water can become superheated and erupt when disturbed, so allow it to cool before handling. Keep liquid out of vents and openings, and follow your appliance manual. HONEST WORDS: steam can soften dried food and make wiping easier. It will not magically remove every old stain, repair damaged paint or fix a burnt component. Plain water can also provide the steam—you do not need a strong vinegar mixture. If you notice sparking or a persistent electrical burning smell, stop using the microwave and have it checked. THE HABIT: use a vented microwave-safe food cover when reheating meals. Wipe splashes once the interior has cooled, before the next meal bakes them on again. A quick wipe today can save a stubborn cleaning job later. Más vale maña que fuerza. Tonight, look inside your microwave—not just at the turntable, but up at the ceiling too. Tell me in the comments: what is the hardest thing you have had to clean out of yours?
