This Simple Walking Stick Is the Best Self-Defense Tool a Senior Can Carry

A walking stick can be more than something that helps with balance—it can also provide valuable protection when you're caught in a dangerous situation. This video explains why a solid, properly fitted walking stick may be more dependable than a hollow adjustable cane, and explores options such as blackthorn, polypropylene, and hickory. You'll learn how to choose the right length, carry it comfortably, and use simple, controlled techniques while keeping your balance and creating enough space to escape. The video also covers important legal considerations, including why modifications such as hidden blades or added weights can turn an ordinary walking stick into a prohibited weapon in some places. Most importantly, the focus is on awareness, stability, and getting to safety rather than fighting.
