Description

Three terrifying encounters on the Appalachian Trail. Three warnings that came too late. And one thing in the darkness that should never have been illuminated. At 2:00 in the morning, a backcountry ranger patrolling the Roan Highlands found an old man sitting alone on a granite boulder. No backpack. No water. No winter clothing. No flashlight. The ranger initially assumed he was dealing with a lost or disoriented hiker. Then the man looked at him. He didn't ask for help. He didn't give his name. He simply raised one trembling finger to his lips and whispered: “Turn off your flashlight.” The ranger refused. Moments later, his radio went completely dead. The wind stopped. Something moved inside the trees. And the old man did something that may have saved the ranger's life—he knocked the flashlight from his hand and dragged him into the darkness. What happened next left the ranger hiding motionless in the dirt while something impossibly large stood exactly where they had been standing. By sunrise, the old man was gone. But the flashlight he had destroyed was still there. And whatever had found it had left behind evidence that the ranger could never explain. This is Account 1. Three Appalachian Trail horror encounters. Three nights in the wilderness. And warnings that may have been given for a reason. Welcome to Mr Midnight.
