Description
This one took me a very long time.
Maybe it’s because autumn has always meant more to me than just a season.
There is something about October light, orange leaves, empty roads, old trees, and the way everything seems to slow down just enough for us to notice what we usually miss. I love that feeling. I love the color orange. And somehow, while making this film, those two things became impossible to separate.
This is Chapter 3 of THE SEASONS.
Summer came first with We Kept the Sun. Winter followed with First Snow. And now, by a small coincidence that makes me very happy, the Autumn chapter is arriving in October.
I spent months creating the images for this film.
Some of them started as simple ideas: an old road under orange trees, a quiet lake, a house at the edge of a field, a couple standing beneath a sky that looked like it had remembered something. But the longer I worked, the more personal the images became. A few of them reminded me of places from years ago. Others reminded me of feelings I thought I had forgotten.
There were moments when I stopped editing and just looked at the still images.
A few were so beautiful to me that I thought, “I would hang that on a wall.”
So maybe one day I will show you some of them as still artwork too.
Beauty is a strange thing. Sometimes it feels private. Sometimes it feels even better when it is shared.
The music took longer than usual too.
I loved this season so much that one song was not enough.
So this film has two original songs: October In The Mirror and Nobody Calls October Late.
The first is about finally seeing the person time has shaped us into.
The second is about something I think many of us understand better as the years pass: there is no single correct time to become who you are.
Some trees turn early.
Some wait until the end of October.
And somehow, the one that takes the longest can still become the deepest orange of all.
I hope this film gives you a few quiet minutes to slow down, remember so
