Description

Long Beach, California, is facing dangerous coastal erosion as the remnants of Hurricane Rachel batter beachfront homes, while record-setting rainfall floods Las Vegas. At the same time, Hurricane Isaias continues to leave a trail of destruction across Florida and the Southeast, with deadly flooding, widespread power outages, and extensive storm damage. On October 11, 2026, Las Vegas recorded 1.08 inches of rain in a single day, flooding streets, closing Interstate 15, and triggering water rescues. In Long Beach, waves tore apart sections of a century-old boardwalk, and nine buildings across 13 addresses were red-tagged as unsafe. Although Southern California avoided the worst high tides initially forecast, coastal flooding remains a concern. Meanwhile, Isaias has left at least four people dead and hundreds of thousands of customers without power across Florida, Alabama, and Georgia. Its remnants are also pushing heavy rain and renewed flood risks farther inland. In this video, we examine Rachel’s impact on Las Vegas and the California coast, why sea levels were already elevated before the storm arrived, and the ongoing recovery from Isaias across the Southeast. Officials continue to monitor damaged homes, rising rivers, and additional flooding risks as recovery crews work across both regions. The coming days remain critical for vulnerable coastal communities and residents still without electricity. Global Weather covers natural disasters and extreme weather events as they develop, using sourced reporting and avoiding unsupported speculation.
