Description

Antarctica today is a frozen desert buried beneath kilometres of ice. But for millions of years, it looked completely different. Forests covered the continent. Rivers cut through the landscape. Dinosaurs hunted beneath towering conifers, marine reptiles patrolled the surrounding seas, and life somehow survived months of darkness every single year. In this video, we explore the lost world of prehistoric Antarctica — from Cryolophosaurus and armored dinosaurs like Antarctopelta, to giant marine predators, strange polar adaptations, and the forests that once grew near the South Pole. We’ll also look at how Antarctica finally froze, why the forests disappeared, and what scientists are still discovering beneath the ice today. Somewhere under modern Antarctica, ancient valleys and river systems are still preserved beneath the ice — remnants of a continent that was once almost unrecognizable.
