Description

These five simple foods may be called “poor man’s food,” but in my kitchen, they are some of the most useful foods you can keep around. In this video, I’m talking about cabbage, eggs, barley, buckwheat, and potatoes, and why these ordinary staples can help you stretch meals, use leftovers, waste less food, and avoid spending extra money on convenience meals. I grew up with the idea that cheap food should do more than one job. A good ingredient should be able to become supper tonight, lunch tomorrow, or part of another meal later in the week. In this video, I’ll show you how I think about: getting more meals from basic ingredients using leftovers before they go to waste stretching expensive ingredients with cheaper staples planning second-day meals keeping some of the money you save building a kitchen where every meal does not start from zero This is not about eating badly or refusing every convenience. It is about making ordinary food work harder for your household. If you enjoy practical old-fashioned kitchen knowledge, frugal cooking, and simple ways to make your food budget go further, subscribe. And tell me in the comments, what was the “poor food” in your family that you still enjoy today, and what would you like me to cover in the next video?
