Description

HMRC is sending out around 1.8 million Simple Assessment tax letters — and many UK pensioners could be among those receiving one. In this video, we explain what these HMRC letters mean, why pension income, savings interest and other untaxed income can trigger a Simple Assessment, and the important deadlines pensioners need to know. If you receive a PA302 Simple Assessment letter, check the figures carefully. Depending on when the letter arrives, tax owed for the 2025–26 tax year may need to be paid by 31 January 2027 or within three months of the letter date. We’ll also explain what to do if you believe HMRC’s figures are wrong, how to check whether the letter is genuine, and why ignoring an outstanding tax bill could lead to further charges. Always verify your individual tax position through GOV.UK or directly with HMRC. #HMRC #UKPensioners #StatePension #UKTax #PensionNews #RetirementUK
